چکیده

Aim: This study aimed to examine the utility of computer-assisted quantitative assessment chest
computed tomography (CT) images in stratification Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)
 severity.
Materials and Methods: was designed as a retrospective, single-center and
included total 142 RT-PCR-confirmed COVID-19 patients. CT findings were visually evaluated
noted for their morphology distribution characteristics. Visual semi-quantitative score (VSS)
computer-aided (CQS) calculated. The approach was
assessed based on its ability predict patients who would require intensive care.
Results: presence underlying fibrosis, air bubble sign, co-occurrence central peripheral lung area involvement that significantly more commonly
encountered with care requirements during follow-up period. We found a
significant positive correlation between VSS CQS (p

The relationship between laboratory and chest computed tomography scan findings and severity of COVID-19 cases: a single center study

Background: Para-clinical abnormalities are considered as predictors of COVID-19 severity. We aimed at evaluate the relationship between laboratory and chest computed tomography (CT) scan findings and severity of COVID-19 cases. Materials and methods: We performed a retrospective study on confirmed COVID-19 patients in Amir-Al-Momenin hospital, Tehran, Iran, from February 20, 2020 to April 19,...

Precision of quantitative computed tomography texture analysis using image filtering

Quantitative computed tomography (CT) texture analyses for images with and without filtration are gaining attention to capture the heterogeneity of tumors. The aim of this study was to investigate how quantitative texture parameters using image filtering vary among different computed tomography (CT) scanners using a phantom developed for radiomics studies.A phantom, consisting of 10 different c...

[Quantitative analysis of cholesteatoma using high resolution computed tomography].

Seventy-three cases of adult cholesteatoma, including 52 cases with pars flaccida type cholesteatoma and 21 with pars tensa type cholesteatoma, were examined using high resolution computed tomography, in both axial (lateral semicircular canal plane) and coronal sections (cochlear, vestibular and antral plane). These cases were classified into two subtypes according with the presence of extensio...

Quantitative Computed Tomography

Computed Tomography (CT) is a wide-spread medical imaging modality. Traditional CT yields information on a patient’s anatomy in form of slice images or volume data. Hounsfield Units (HU) are used to quantify the imaged tissue properties. Due to the polychromatic nature of X-rays in CT, the HU values for a specific tissue depend on its density and composition but also on CT system parameters and...

Prediction of Human Vertebral Compressive Strength Using Quantitative Computed Tomography Based Nonlinear Finite Element Method

Introduction: Because of the importance of vertebral compressive fracture (VCF) role in increasing the patients’ death rate and reducing their quality of life, many studies have been conducted for a noninvasive prediction of vertebral compressive strength based on bone mineral density (BMD) determination and recently finite element analysis. In this study, QCT-voxel based nonlinear finite eleme...
